Named after its transparent body and wing shaped wing like flaps, which help them swim in water. The body is very small, usually only a few millimeters to a few centimeters long. It is a hermaphroditic organism, with each individual possessing male and female reproductive organs, capable of self fertilization or mating with other individuals. They feed on small crustaceans and other planktonic organisms, using their tentacles to capture prey. Plays an important role in the marine ecosystem and serves as a food source for many large marine organisms.
